Where there is one there is many!
The occasional Dolphin can be spotted during our kayak tours. The Dolphins swim through the area sporadically, but most sightings are early in the mornings and later in the evenings, towards sunset. Kayak with these beautiful creatures, or even somtimes witness them from the shore. Kayak rentals are avaliable 8am till sunset every day.

Dolphins have evolved over the years with adapted sensory specializations that enable them to monitor their environment and take advantage their fast sleek swimming technique. Dolphins have the basic senses of vision, hearing, taste and touch; however, they don't have the sense of smell. Other, more useful, senses evolve an advantageous magnetic-field detection.

la jolla pelicanDolphin- and pod sightings!

Dolphin usually travel in pods, which works out well on our kayak tours. Even if you miss the first sighting, there are usually more Dolphins on the way. When the Dolphins surface they are usually traveling quite slowly. If needed Dolphins can swim up to 40 km/hr. They have a special skin for swimming that reduces turbulence.

Man is the dolphins greatest predator. Tuna nets from fisheries are the Dolphins most deadly predator.† Additionally, overfishing can play quite a role in the food chain.

Dolphins usually eat anywhere from 8-15 kgs, so that’s a lot of fish. The average lifespan is about 25 years, but the maximum lifespan is 40 years. We can't guarantee Dolphin sightings of course; however, the frequent surprise is always an exciting addition to our Kayak Tours.
