La Jolla Shores Beach - the Sea Caves, the Reserve and the Cove!

Kayaking in San Diego in the La Jolla Cove is easy and makes exploring the treasured seacliffs and caves along the shores a memory that will last a lifetime. Call (858) 454-1010 or feel free to reserve your Kayak Rental online.

La Jolla Shores is one of the most beautiful beaches in la_jolla_shores_beachSan Diego.  It is approximately one mile long and located in the heart of sophisticated La Jolla.  In the summer, waves at La Jolla Shores are usually the most gentle of all San Diego beaches. This is precisely why kayaking in La Jolla, snorkeling in La Jolla, and open water swims are popular activities at La Jolla Shores.

Kellogg Park, a grassy area, is located behind the main lifeguard station and is ideal for picnicking after taking a La Jolla kayak tour or one of our San Diego bike tours. A cement boardwalk parallels a very small portion of the beach between the park and the sand. There is also a small parking lot for La Jolla Shores opposite Kellogg Park that fills up quickly during the summer months not only from kayaking but surfing and snorkeling visitors too.

la jolla cave kayak tour photoLa Jolla Shores lies adjacent to the La Jolla Underwater Ecological Reserve. Fishing and removal of objects from this area is prohibited. Scripps Institute of Oceanography and Scripps Pier lie on the north end of La Jolla Shores beach. La Jolla Shores has the only beachfront boat launch, where we launch our kayaks in La Jolla directly into the surf.  Right nearby the lifeguard station, there are public showers at La Jolla Shores that are useful after taking kayaking or going snorkeling in La Jolla.

La Jolla Shores beach has separate water areas reserved for swimming and surfing.  There is a submarine canyon off the beach and the protection offered by the San Diego La Jolla Ecological Reserve ensures the presence of marine life. One of the most popular activities in San Diego is having a bonfire at La Jolla Shores during the summer.  Containers for beach fires are generally provided during summer months and available on a first come, first served basis.
