coronado_famous picThe Hotel Del Coronado, with its all wood Victorian architecture and trademark red tile roof, is a must see when visiting San Diego. The Hotel Del Coronado was name d a Historical Landmark in 1977, and stands today as one of the oldest and few all-wood buildings in California. 

In the original building, each room was unique and extravagantly furnished, as the hotel was originally built to accommodate the wealthy. The magnificent “Crown Room,” with its arched ceiling of notched sugar pine was constructed without using nails.  The grand oak gazebo and spectacular ocean views make the Hotel Del Coronado the luxurious resort that it is, even today.

The Hotel Del, as it is commonly referred to by locals, has been a popular point of interest for many presidents and movie stars, despite the rumors that it is haunted withcornado otel at night ice scating ghosts.  The Hotel Del has not only hosted every President since Lyndon Johnson, the Hotel Del has also hosted many other dignified guests including Frank Baum, Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth, and Charles Lindburgh (who the San Diego International Airport was later named after).
